Partnership Program

The goal of the Onward Neighborhood House Head Start Partnership Program is to collaborate with privately owned licensed child care providers to offer accessible comprehensive Head Start services such as: support for children with disabilities, child development, health, mental health, nutrition, social services to low-income children and their families in communities with limited to no access to these services.

Recognizing families' needs for quality and accessible programs for their children and as the needs of families change, a Head Start Partnership is one-way Onward Neighborhood House is meeting the goal of providing comprehensive full-day services to families where the parents are working, in school, experiencing scheduling and transportation problems, inadequate child care, and other barriers.

In addition to providing services and support to children and families, the program also provides professional development opportunities in conjunction with the Department of Family Support Services (DFSS) and City Colleges of Chicago to center staff, on-going technical assistance to the partner site directors and staff to ensure high quality program implementation and operation and a Family Support Worker to support and work directly with the children and families enrolled in the program.

Onward Neighborhood House’s Head Start Partnership Program serves 157 children between the ages of 3 to 5 years old in 5 privately owned and licensed child care centers in the Chicago communities of Austin, Dunning and Logan Square.
