A Beautiful Day and Smiling faces at the 3rd Annual "Back to School" Picnic
Onward House parents, children and staff were treated to beautiful late summer afternoon for the annual "End of Summer" picnic on Wednesday, August 25th at Smith Park. For the third consecutive year, the Onward House Auxiliary Board planned a fun-filled evening of crafts, sports, games and a picnic dinner for the families at our West Town site.
Onward House would like to give special thanks to Auxiliary Board President, Shalini Hanoman; Vice President, Katie Duncan; and Auxiliary Board Members Carolyn Baker, Aaron Weigel, Lindsay Goetz, Mitch Early, Brian Bauer and Nate Zitelman for hosting such a fun family evening. The Onward House Auxiliary Board is made up of young Chicago professionals. Deloitte’s IMPACT at West Town
Onward House recently welcomed Deloitte to our West Town site for another successful Deloitte IMPACT Day. Tens of thousands of Deloitte personnel from across the United States spend IMPACT Day participating in more than 800 volunteer projects nationwide. At Onward House, volunteers helped to clean all of our classrooms, paint portions of our facility, perform maintenance on our playground area, and clean the windows and walls in the building. The children in our programs spent the first part of their day on an exciting field trip to the Rainforest Café and returned to find the site ready for the busy summer programming season. We are grateful to Deloitte for their dedication to volunteerism and we are grateful to the local Deloitte employees for lending a hand year after year. By donating time and labor to Onward Neighborhood House, Deloitte saved the agency hundreds of dollars in necessary maintenance.
Volunteers are an essential part of Onward House’s resource network. Whether brightening up a hallway with fresh paint or a classroom by reading aloud, there are numerous opportunities to get involved. Give Onward House a call to see how you can volunteer your time and talents!
Sawbridge Studios Fundraiser A Success!

Chapter 3 of the Glenview Community Church Women's Association, Sawbridge Studios and Prufrock Florists recently hosted "The Flower Hours", a fundraising event for Onward Neighborhood House.
Sam McGee, co-owner of Prufrock and renowed floral demonstrator, shared secrets of professional flower arranging as attendees enjoyed refreshments provided by Sylvia Studt. Several stunning arrangements were created in hand blown glass vases by artist Simon Pearce of Vermont. The arrangements were raffled off to lucky attendees and Sawbridge generously donated 15% of purchases to Onward House.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Onward House! The event raised nearly $2,000 and provided a great opportunity to share the mission of Onward House with new friends and supporters. Special thanks to Deedee Brannigan, Jane Demler, Mary Feldmeir, Cathy Lalich, Sam McGee, Simon Pearce, Sylvia Studt, the Glenview Community Church Women’s Association, Prufrock Florists, and Sawbridge Studios for making this event possible.
